On 29 September, we’re throwing the first Launchy - a pop-up launch party where twelve people launch something new in one night. Five minutes each, one slide or one video, filmed and celebrated properly instead of published quietly and hoped about. It’s happening at Whelan’s in Dublin.

If you’re around that day, come. If you’re not, share it with someone in your Dublin network who’s building something and never got a proper send-off for it.

Here’s the bigger picture: Dublin is just the first stop. Launchy is built to travel - the plan is to take this format to other cities and communities around Ireland. So if you run a space, a coworking hub, a startup community, or a business that works with founders and creators, I’d love to hear from you about a collab.

We’re also looking for launchers and partners to put something into the goodie bag every guest takes home - a small, easy way to get involved if a full partnership isn’t the right fit yet.

Sixteen years ago, I launched 10 businesses in one hour at an event called Connector Launches.

The event featured launches from Stephen Conmy and Edward Conmy from The Digital Times, Stephen O’Leary from Olytico (O’Leary Analytics), and Martin Osborne from Progressive Productions Ireland. Some are still in business to this day, which is amazing.

Then a massive recession hit Ireland.

The idea got shelved - year one of Connector was about survival, not experiments.

Connector sold in 2020, and recently this old idea started nagging at me again.

Now it feels like everyone’s launching something.

No better time to bring group launch parties back - with a fresh twist.

Please welcome Launchy.

What if the problem was never the ladder, but which ladder you were climbing?

Most people spend their career climbing a ladder someone else owns, which is no longer working for most. Entry-level jobs are disappearing, and 94% of Gen Z don’t want to climb the Career Ladder.

I teach a different model: the Assets Ladder, one you build and own yourself, made up of Career Assets: skills, personal brand, content, products, networks, and know-how. One that compounds over time, while jobs disappear.
