So I met this Aussie lawyer on the streets of Dublin.

I asked her one question: where do you sit right now?

Worker or owner?

One answer stuck with me. A young lawyer said she’s a worker, and she wants to be partner. Fair. Partner is the next rung up. But partner in someone else’s firm is still the same ladder, just a higher step. Then she caught himself: partner, then maybe own her work.

That’s the shift. Most careers are built to keep you climbing. Very few are built to make you own something. The question isn’t “how do I get promoted?” It’s “what am I building that’s mine?”

Learn. Earn. Own.

Where are you today - worker, partner, or owner? Drop it in the comments.

Two weeks ago, on the 29th September, Dublin's founders, creators and makers packed into the Parlour Bar in Whelan's to launch at Launchy No. 1!

We created a place for them to celebrate what they're building. Wellness brands, AI workflows, farm-to-table startups, podcasts and passion projects.

All on one stage, all in one room, all winners.

Some people came to pitch. Some came to listen. Everyone left with new connections.

Who’s launching what, where, and when?

Launchy just kicked off and aims to give you the low-down on what’s launching in Ireland. Welcome to all those who signed up - over 800 of you in the first two weeks!

On the 29th September, twelve people walked onto the stage at The Parlour Bar in Whelan’s and launched something. Some of them were nervous. All of them got a cheer. And the room was full of people who wanted to see what’s new in Ireland before anyone else.

That was Launchy No. 1. This newsletter edition is all about what happened, what’s launching around Ireland, and what’s coming next.

Launch Manifesto

Six things we believe about launching

1. Starting is not launching. Pressing publish is easy. Getting noticed takes a push, a room, and a spotlight.

2. Launch together, celebrate together. Creating can be solitary. The launch shouldn’t be.

3. Nobody remembers a sign-up form. They remember a launch party.

4. A launch party lasts longer than one night. Weeks of warm-up, one loud night, months of clips, and a permanent place in the Launchy archive.

5. A launch should be affordable. Shared costs, shared night, shared audience.

6. Rent the audience, own the content. You leave with the footage, the contacts, and a launch night people remember.

Thanks!

Who's launching what, where, and when?

Almost 47,000 new businesses were registered in Ireland in 2025. Founders and creators are releasing new brands, apps, and ideas daily. Almost none of them have a proper launch party.

Every day, something new launches in Ireland. An app, an album, a product, a podcast, a restaurant, a service, a community, or a space etc. Most of it happens quietly, and most people never hear about it.

When someone puts a lot of effort into creating something, ideally it has the best chance of success. Let’s get behind the Launchers! Let’s throw a party! Let’s make a list and get it out there in a newsletter!

So at Launchy, as well as our live events mentioned below, we will let you know about launches that are happening, with or without parties.

Substrato Medical, Dublin. An RCSI spinout developing oxygen-therapy technology for chronic wound care, recognised at Start-Up Day in May.

Barespace Capital, Dublin. An embedded finance product for salon owners, built on the Barespace platform.

Belong To, Dublin. A new dedicated youth hub on Parliament Street, opened in June.

Bring your idea. We’ll bring the party.

Next week, twelve people will launch something on the stage at Whelan’s. They didn’t have to

book a venue, build a guest list, or hope someone turns up. They just had to bring their ideas.

That’s the deal at Launchy. We manage the venue, stage, party, audience, the photographer and videographer, the goodie bag, and more. You simply bring your idea and launch it!

MEDIA RELEASE

For immediate release in Ireland

‘Every Launch Deserves a Party: Launchy brings 12 new launches to one Dublin stage, in one night’

Twelve launches, one stage, all winners - Dublin’s first pop-up launch party.

Almost 47,000 new businesses were registered in Ireland in 2025. Founders and creators are releasing new brands, apps, and ideas daily. Almost none of them have a proper launch party.

Launchy #001, taking place at The Parlour Bar, Whelan’s, Dublin, sets out to change that. Twelve founders and creators get five minutes each, across three rounds, to finally launch what they’ve built in front of a room that’s actually cheering for them. It’s the first in a new pop-up series - not tied to one venue or city, built to travel to wherever founders need a stage. Spaces, communities and cities interested in hosting a night of their own can get in touch.

The party has 11 launcher slots plus one dedicated slot for a student project. The night brings together some of Dublin’s freshest new ideas and helps them get noticed by the right audience.

The Launchers at the event get the opportunity to share their story and have a launch party, with the costs and audience shared across the night. The event is filmed, and each Launcher leaves with the highlights of their launch, along with a permanent place in the Launchy archive. And Launchy #001 is just the beginning.

Launchy will work with partners to help give launch opportunities to those with something new to release. Sponsors have an opportunity to get featured online and on the night. All guests will leave with the Launch goodie bag with gifts from launchers, sponsors, and partners.

Free tickets for this event are available on Eventbrite. More details about Dublin’s first pop-up launch party are available at www.launchy.party

About the Host

Conor P. Lynch has been creating and launching brands since 1999, when he built his first personal website while still on the career ladder. He grew his digital agency, Connector, from a side project into a seven-figure business, later acquired by Granite Digital.

Along the way, he designed and ran award-winning launch and brand events for audiences of up to 500, for his own ventures and for clients including EY and Huawei. Starting in Dublin, Launchy is the next chapter of that story: a recurring stage built to give every founder the launch they deserve.

On 29 September, we’re throwing the first Launchy - a pop-up launch party where twelve people launch something new in one night. Five minutes each, one slide or one video, filmed and celebrated properly instead of published quietly and hoped about. It’s happening at Whelan’s in Dublin.

If you’re around that day, come. If you’re not, share it with someone in your Dublin network who’s building something and never got a proper send-off for it.

Here’s the bigger picture: Dublin is just the first stop. Launchy is built to travel - the plan is to take this format to other cities and communities around Ireland. So if you run a space, a coworking hub, a startup community, or a business that works with founders and creators, I’d love to hear from you about a collab.

We’re also looking for launchers and partners to put something into the goodie bag every guest takes home - a small, easy way to get involved if a full partnership isn’t the right fit yet.

We want to find the first partners for Launchy + Brand x.

Get in touch if any of that sounds like you - just reply to this post/email (conor@launchy.party) and let’s talk.

Sixteen years ago, I launched 10 businesses in one hour at an event called Connector Launches.

The event featured launches from Stephen Conmy and Edward Conmy from The Digital Times, Stephen O’Leary from Olytico (O’Leary Analytics), and Martin Osborne from Progressive Productions Ireland. Some are still in business to this day, which is amazing.

Then a massive recession hit Ireland.

The idea got shelved - year one of Connector was about survival, not experiments.

Connector sold in 2020, and recently this old idea started nagging at me again.

Now it feels like everyone’s launching something.

No better time to bring group launch parties back - with a fresh twist.

Please welcome Launchy.

Sometimes an idea gets dropped for the next shiny object. I’ve often been guily of this. But don’t be afraid to go back over your notebook of ideas and dust down some of the old ones!

Come to Launchy #001 on the 29th September @ 6pm in Whelan’s Dublin.

Most had never thought about their Career Assets, and it showed.

A hard question to start off: Are you on the Career Ladder or the Assets Ladder?

The laughs came fast. The realisation came right after.

The Career Ladder was never designed to make you rich; it was designed to keep you climbing.

Learn Earn Own is about building assets instead of just clocking hours.
